Symphony EDA University Program
One of Symphony EDA's core goals is to assist in the
educational development of electronic design
engineers around the world. To make a real difference, we have formulated a
University Program that is very straightforward, useful and affordable:
- Our intent is to provide undergraduate and graduate
institutions with the VHDL Simili simulation environment for an entire digital logic laboratory,
and to enable advanced students to use our tools in their research
endeavors. The software must be used for non-commercial
purposes.
- Each University LAB License enables 15
computers (Windows or Linux) with concurrent access to the full-featured
VHDL
Simili Professional Edition, using floating licenses managed by a computer designated as the license server. Note: We
recommend a reliable computer or server that is not frequently disturbed to be
designated as the license server.
- The cost of a one-year, 15-seat University LAB License
for VHDL Simili Professional Edition is US$1000. Institutions with larger
labs may purchase multiple licenses for additional seats. Since University
Licenses are created and processed manually, there is a $50 processing surcharge per order.
Credit card orders are preferred as they can be processed faster.
- The University LAB License is a one-year
subscription allowing FREE tool upgrades
downloadable from the Symphony EDA website. Universities will receive an
invoice each year to renew their subscription(s).
- Institutions that purchase a University LAB License
must sign a Licensing Agreement prior to receiving and using the software.
Use of a University LAB License for any commercial purpose is in direct
violation of the Licensing Agreement. The software must be used within the
campus where the designated license server resides. Students or professors
needing the software for personal or commercial use outside of the
university LAB must purchase their own
licenses.
- The University LAB License entitles an institution
to technical support only via the primary and secondary contact persons
designated in the License Agreement. We discourage individual students from
contacting us directly.
- Note that you do not need this license to use the
FREE edition of VHDL Simili available on our website. However, Symphony EDA
does not guarantee continued availability or technical support of the
"FREE edition" license. Enrolling in the "University LAB License"
will allow uninterrupted use of the software for the duration of the
license.
- Symphony EDA reserves the right to change the price and
terms of this license. That said, Symphony EDA will strive to provide
sufficient advance notice to all licensees before such changes take effect.
Furthermore, such changes will not affect the terms of an active license until it is due to expire
at the end of the licensing calendar year.
How to enroll:
To get approved for a "University LAB License" as
described above, please contact
